YES in 1984 became the darling of the era with the huge hit of “90125”. Such 90125 TOUR. The new masterpiece is born. What is recorded in this work is Cologne performance on June 21, 1984. It is the best audience recording that conveys the whole story. The album “90125” and single “Owner of a Lonely Heart” were released in the fall of 1983 and dominated the charts in various countries, but it was not until the new year of 1984 that a tour was started based on that momentum. Since then. First of all, lets check the shows position from the overall picture of the world tour that suddenly regained its heyday. 1984 February 28th – May 15th: North America #1 (62 performances) June 11th – July 26th: Europe (32 performances) Coco August 9th – October 1st : North America #2 (41 performances) January 17th – February 9th, 1985: South America (6 performances) [“9012LIVE: THE SOLOS” released on November 7th] This is YES in 1984/1985. In particular, in 1984, they conducted a huge tour with over 130 performances in one year. This was their first large-scale release since 1971, when they broke through with their “Third Album” and “Fragile”. The Cologne performance of this work was the 8th concert of the European tour, which is in the middle. This tour is also left in the official version 9012LIVE: THE SOLOS, but it was also three times before the Barcelona performance that was adopted there. This work recorded at such a show is a new recording that was recently discovered. In fact, the Cologne performance was a show that had no record until now, but with this work it became possible to experience an unknown show. What’s more, it’s a fastball recording in which a powerful and active core jumps into the air. The sound has a vintage feel typical of the 80’s, but the direct feeling and detailed details that make you feel no distance are enough to make you wonder if it’s an FM broadcast. If the snare, which tends to be sparse, has a lot of density, Chris Squire’s bass running, which is the life of YES, will also be solid. Trevor Rabin’s guitar playing is at the level of picking nuance, as he constantly performs delicate techniques. Actually, I think it’s a guest record because it’s a master released as an audience recording, but as I listen to it, I start to feel less confident, wondering, “Is it really an audience?” When it becomes each person’s solo corner and you hear the voices of the audience speaking, you are convinced that it is a guest record after all…It is a recording of such a dimension. What is depicted with such direct sound is a full show that is an expansion of the half-finished official works “9012LIVE” and “9012LIVE: THE SOLOS.” Here, let’s organize the set while comparing it with the two official works. Classics (7 songs) Third album: Yours Is No Disgrace () / I’ve Seen All Good People / Starship Trooper Fragile: Long Distance Runaround () / Roundabout Crisis: And You and I () Relayer :Soon Others (8 songs + )Lonely Heart: Cinema/Leave It/Hold On/Hearts ()/Changes/Make It Easy/Owner of a Lonely Heart/It Can Happen/City of LoveSolo etc.: Si/ Solly’s Beard/Whitefish/Amazing Grace *Note: Songs marked with “” cannot be heard on “9012LIVE” or “9012LIVE: THE SOLOS.” …and it looks like this. Those who are familiar with 90125 TOUR will know that, in fact, the two official works 9012LIVE and 9012LIVE: THE SOLOS are far from a full show. This work allows you to enjoy the full show, including repertoire that cannot be heard in both works, but the most delicious are the famous songs from the 70’s. You can enjoy great songs such as “Yours Is No Disgrace,” “Long Distance Runaround,” and “And You and I,” which have been sharply reborn with Rabin’s guitar. Moreover, not only is the arrangement different, but also Jon Anderson’s singing voice and Chris’ bass have received the wind of great success, and the fresh momentum of facing a new audience is exuding. 90125 YES was a representative of progressive rock, which was even called a dinosaur at the time, but also captivated audiences of a new era. They achieved success not only because of their pop hit songs, but also because of their daring sense of adventure, and were able to breathe new life into even the most famous songs of the past. A new masterpiece that allows you to experience such a full show with the best sound that is far away from the audience.
