Released in 2003 during one of the most turbulent chapters in the band’s history, St. Anger arrived in the wake of lineup changes, internal conflicts, and a very public reckoning documented in the film Some Kind of Monster. The snare sound alone became one of hard rock’s most debated production choices, but the raw, unpolished aggression here reflects a band genuinely fighting to find itself again.
