Shocked by the appearance of Ornette and since his disappearance, Rollins has reconsidered his own improvisation, and now he has grown in size and size, and with two members of the Ornette Quartet accompanying him, Rollins gives a majestic and spirited performance. A shocking item that combines the Stuttgart performance and the extremely rare completely unreleased studio session of Rollins’ “Freedom Suite”, which is said to be the most creative piece by a pianoless trio, is now available for the first time! ! He made his professional debut and made his first recordings in the late 40s, and in the 50s, Miles Davis said, “He is already a legend and is like a god to many young musicians. Same as Byrd (Charlie Parker).” It is said that there is no saxophone player since Rollins who has not been influenced by Rollins and Coltrane, and to this day he is considered a living legend at the very peak of jazz. Sonny Rollins turned 90 on September 7th of this year! The performance in Stuttgart, Germany on January 29, 1963 from the European tour where the bassist replaced Henry Grimes (who passed away at the age of 84 due to the new coronavirus in April this year) has been carefully mastered by the label. Appeared on the highest quality sound board (42 minutes)! ! In addition, this song from “Freedom Suite”, which is said to be the most creative of Rollins’ pianoless trio works, represented by the 20-minute title track, was released in March 1958. An extremely rare recording session (21 minutes) at New York’s WOR studio on the 7th, coupled with the label’s own carefully mastered, extremely high-quality soundboard, is an item that will shock and delight jazz fans. is now in stock! ! At the Stuttgart performance, Grimes moved more freely than his predecessor Bob Cranshaw, and the other two played the role of the Ornette Coleman Classical Quartet sound that had so impressed Rollins. With Don Cherry’s tremendous improvisation and Billy Higgins’ stirring drums, the long number, which is over 20 minutes long, is performed with real enthusiasm. As for Rollins’ play, it’s as expected from Rollins! The thick and strong tenor resounded like a torrent, and Coltrane, who was beginning to rise to prominence at the time, was in full bloom for over 10 minutes, with a barrage of impromptu improvisations, an overwhelming blow that was unimaginably spectacular. You’ll definitely get goosebumps while playing! I really can’t handle it anymore! You can thoroughly enjoy Rollins’ improvisation! If you don’t listen to this, you won’t be able to appreciate the true “greatness” of Rollins! “Freedom Suite” was recorded in two sessions, on February 11, 1958 and March 7, 1958. The members are Oscar Pettiford, Max Roach and Rollins, a one-horn trio. The 20-minute title track, which literally features Rollins’ free-spirited blowjobs, was recorded on March 7th. The session is vividly recorded here, including the exchange in the studio. It’s very interesting to see the song becoming more and more complete with each take, and I’m filled with emotion thinking that one day I’ll be able to hear something like this…Rollins’ creative desire was at its peak during this period. He has reached the top of his game and has released albums worthy of being called masterpieces on several labels, but this “Freedom Suite” stands out among them… Live in Stuttgart 630129 Recorded Live at Liederhalle,Stuttgart,Germany January.29.1963 EX -SBD 2020 Original Remaster 42 min 1. fade – in 2.
